Mission Trips
Slovakia (Index page)From October 2-17, 1998 a mission team from Bon Air Baptist Church, Richmond, VA traveled to central Slovakia to assist in re-construction of a Baptist Retreat Center. The trip was planned and coordinated by several groups, which together made up the Virginia Baptist Partnership. The team consisted of 7 men. The team brought their own tools and lodged and ate at the site and for two weeks volunteered their time and talents to aid in the renovation of the building. TrinidadFrom February 22 to March 9, 2001 a mission team from Bon Air Baptist Church, Richmond, VA traveled to Toco, Trinidad to assist in the construction of a Baptist Church. The trip was one of many International Mission Board volunteer mission projects assigned to Southern Baptist Churches. The team was comprised of members of Bon Air Baptist Church, as well as members of other churches. The project was an outreach ministry of two missionary couples who minister to the African Group People of Trinidad and Tobago. Haiti
Tuesday afternoon, January 12th, the worst earthquake in 200 years [7.0 in magnitude] struck less than ten miles from the Caribbean city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The initial quake was later followed by over 60 aftershocks ranging in magnitude from 4.2 to 5.9. Structures of all kinds were damaged or collapsed, from shantytown homes to national landmarks. Hundreds of thousands have lost their lives and over 2 million are homeless.
